Her Self-Care Rituals: Dr. Naana Boakye

A Bit About Dr. Naana Boakye

We are getting up close and personally peeking into the self-care rituals of Dr. Naana Boakye, a board-certified dermatologist and also one of the co-founders of Karité.

Her Self-care Rituals:

Daily

My day-to-day life is extremely busy with running two businesses, my kids, family and other daily activities. But I have made it a point over the last year and a half to really take the time to focus on myself because I’ve found that overall it’s made me more focused, healthier, and happier. I am an early riser and I take advantage of that aspect of myself. I try to hit the gym at least 4-5 times a week first thing in the morning around 5 am. I lift weights and really enjoy the group classes at my gym. The energy of the tribe gets me going!

Weekly

I spend practically all of my time helping others but find time every week to just be by myself. It can be as simple as retreating in the house for some quiet time for reflection or funny enough, going grocery shopping alone. Grocery shopping is therapeutic for me! Especially since I’ve also adopted a more plant-based lifestyle. I don’t just throw items in the cart — I really think about each item I choose. But I have not given up on my sweets — it’s good to indulge every once in a while.

Monthly

Date nights with my husband. Getting together with my siblings and parents. We talk several times a week (sometimes a few times a day!) but it’s so much better when we actually are in each others presence catching up.

Annually

Vacation!! Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to vacation, but if you are, take advantage and try to vacation at least once a year. Being able to see the world and other cultures is an experience like no other. I love being able to share these experiences with my family.

I'm a teacher, beauty/wellness founder, and Qigong Instructor. My work exists to support women and people experiencing the menopausal transition on their health and wellness journey. I believe in the sacredness, wholeness, and expansiveness of well-being and the menopausal passage, and I care deeply about teaching and creating experiences and safe spaces that provide support.
