Her Self-care Rituals: Joanna Daley

Where do you live, where are you from & what do you do?

Hello! I’m Joanna, a holistic family coach with a specialization in child counseling and yoga therapeutics. I create happy and healthy lives for individuals and families through yoga, meditation, mindfulness, self-care, and nutrition.

I recently moved my online coaching business to London, and am preparing to launch a new division of my company in 2019, holistic health retreats for parents and families.

My mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way parents and children connect with one another, achieving immediate and lasting change. I believe that every family is unique, and their wellness program should reflect their individuality. Each family deserves to feel it’s best. And, I can help them get there.

Holistic Family Coaching sessions are hosted online or in person and filled with transformative practices that provide children and parents with the skills and vocabulary to experience more inner (and outer) peace.

I work with age-appropriate exercises to cultivate spaciousness and calmness in the mind as well as provide parents with tools to engage in intentional dialogues with their children in fun and productive ways.

What are some of the self-care rituals you practice:

Daily

The key to my self-care is found within my daily rituals, all of which take place in the morning.

1. Gratitude: As I wake up, before I even get out of bed, I say thank you for 3 blessings within my life and then cuddle with my fiance for 5-minutes before I choose to ‘rise and shine’.

2. Recognize my Little Accomplishments: I mindfully make my bed with a smile on my face. It helps me to feel accomplished, first thing in the morning and sets the tone for the day ahead. It is also a wonderful treat to come home to at night.

3. Hydrate: I drink a large mug filled with hot water and lemon

to cleanse my system and prepare my digestive track for the day.

4. Movement: I create at least 30-minutes within my day to stretch, tone, and move. Vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga, and nature walking are among my favorite of things.

5. Nourishment: I make time for breakfast and a green juice… Otherwise, I will be snacking all day!

Weekly

Weekly self-care rituals include 3-4 days of 1-hour meditation as well as at least one proper bath with all the extras: bubbles, essential oils, lit candles, and a glass of red wine. Both help me to feel grounded, calm and connected to what really matters.

Monthly

My monthly routine includes a day designed by me and for me. It is a day intended to rejuvenate and recharge. I allow myself to sleep in, and then dress myself up and then make my way to the spa for a treatment of choice – whether that be nails, a massage, haircut or facial. After I am feeling and looking good – I take myself out on a date, to dinner.

Annually

My annual (or as of lately my biannual) self-care ritual is to attend a holistic health retreat. They are an amazing way to travel, meet like-minded people, eat gorgeous and nourishing food, and get back to my health and happiness basics. I’ve been so deeply inspired by my experiences on holistic health retreats that I’ve decided to launch my own holistic health retreats in 2019! We will be traveling to the Isle of Wight located in the United Kingdom as well as to the South of France.

I'm a teacher, beauty/wellness founder, and Qigong Instructor. My work exists to support women and people experiencing the menopausal transition on their health and wellness journey. I believe in the sacredness, wholeness, and expansiveness of well-being and the menopausal passage, and I care deeply about teaching and creating experiences and safe spaces that provide support.
