Ok beauties. I’m sure you already know that approximately 60% of the body is made up of water. Cells need water to carry out enzyme functions, and many essential processes in the body are conducted in a watery environment.
Why am I sharing this? Well, it’s a reminder that for optimum performance, our bodies need water that’s free of harmful chemicals and contaminants.
This past summer, I didn’t do so well with my water intake. Mostly, because I was trying to avoid making too many trips to the bathroom during the day. But the body will let you know.
It let me know. So I decided to be more intentional and proactive about getting safe and adequate amounts of water into my body on a daily basis.
When we purchased our home, we installed a water softener, which reduces the lime. However, We did not install a water filter for drinking, and as a result have been purchasing water for drinking for the past eight years. I know. Ridiculous.
I can’t recall where I came across the Berkey filter. We were on the market for an under the skink filtering system, and the great reviews from Berkey along with the long list of contaminants that it filters absolutely influenced our decision to purchase one. It’s impressive to say the least. So far no complaints. We love the size, and we found a cozy spot for it.

Why We Caved On The Berkey Filter
We wanted a system the removed a range of contaminants and the Berkey does just that. We also loved that they made the lab testing available. Here are a few contaminants that the Berkey filter removes:
VIRUSES – Removed to >99.999% (Log 5)
Exceeds Purification Standard (Log 4):
MS2 Coliphage ; Fr Coliphage.
PATHOGENIC BACTERIA (AND SURROGATES) – Removed to >99.9999%
Exceeds Purification Standard (Log 6): Bacillus atrophaeus (Anthrax surrogate); Raoultella terrigena (Pathogenic Bacteria Surrogate); Salmonella Enterica.
TRIHALOMETHANES
INORGANIC MINERALS
HEAVY METALS (HIGH & LOW pH LEVELS)
PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS CONTAMINANTS
