Her Self-care Rituals: Kenyé Pierce

Self-care is unique to everyone. If you’re struggling with what it can look like for you, know that it’s anything that you do to nourish your mind, body or spirit. And today’s feature, as are all our features are great examples and inspirations. This week’s beauty founder has found her self-care groove. Dive in this read for a glimpse of what works on her self-care journey. Yup. All you need to do is what works well for you.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where do you live? Where are you from? And what are you creating?

My name is Kenyé Pierce. I’m a North Carolina native currently living in Fort Worth, Texas. I am the Founder and CEO of Skin Flo. Skin Flo is Skin Flo is a vegan friendly skincare brand where we believe bath and body care products should exfoliate, moisturize and protect the skin without toxic chemicals. Our product ingredients are plant derived and our formulations are based on one guiding principle and that is fewer ingredients are better. With a mission to produce skincare products that’s safe for the skin, our goal is also to provide products that will uplift, inspire and encourage women to enjoy their self care rituals as well as let their beautiful skin flourish with love and confidence.

Share with us some of the self-care rituals you practice:

Daily

I usually try and wake up super early before I wake my kids up for school. Waking up before everyone else allows me to have an hour or two of quiet time to meditate, recite affirmations and get much needed things done. I burn a candle everyday to set the mood as I truly believe an aroma filled room can enhance thoughts and set the way for a productive day.

At night I really get into doing my self care rituals which includes soaking in a bath filled with all natural bath salts, making sure my skin is completely moisturized, reading, journaling about my day, and planning for the next day. 

Weekly

To get some fresh air and clear my mind I walk my neighborhood trails at least 2 – 3 times a week. I detox my skin by masking with a powder mask and exfoliating with a gentle whipped body scrub every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday night. I also like to catch up on my favorite reality TV shows for a bit of amusement and laughter.

Monthly

I love going to the spa to get my eyebrows threaded by a professional as well as getting my monthly mani/pedicure. Bi-weekly I go to the hair salon to get my hair shampooed and styled which makes me feel like a new lady! 

To help de-stress monthly, I love going shopping for a few home décor items for my home. Decorating for all Holidays and the changing of seasons helps me clear my mind. 

Annually

Decluttering each year has been great for me. I start with my personal wardrobe closet, then the office and work my way through the entire house throwing away things that are no longer needed. I also plan personal and business goals at the beginning of each year. By doing this, it helps me stay on track and focused throughout each month of the year. I also like to travel with the hubby and kiddos to visit family and friends back in North Carolina. A change in atmosphere is so rewarding, I usually return back home ready to get back to work on my business.  

I'm a teacher, beauty/wellness founder, and Qigong Instructor. My work exists to support women and people experiencing the menopausal transition on their health and wellness journey. I believe in the sacredness, wholeness, and expansiveness of well-being and the menopausal passage, and I care deeply about teaching and creating experiences and safe spaces that provide support.
