Way back, about eight years ago, I had a beauty/style blog. Dixie Beauty morphed into Inside Outer Style then finally Inside Outer Beauty. I said I was not going to do a style blog again. And I’m not. This is a style post. When I left my job for a self-care sabbatical, I gave myself permission to explore all the facets of who I am with the hopes of zoning in on my purpose. It worked. I discovered my passion and purpose – teaching health, and wellness and supporting women on their wellbeing journeys.
During that early blogging process, I was a beauty and style contributor for a start-up magazine, and while there realized I didn’t like working in the fashion space. It didn’t fill me up the way I needed to be filled up. And that’s simply because it was not meant for me. One can love fashion/style and not want to pursue it as a career.
I don’t mind sharing my style interpretation. However, I won’t do it daily, nor will it ever be my life’s foundation, passion, and purpose. It’s simply a part of who I choose to be.
During this menopause stage, I’ve had to dig deep into my self-care kit and pull out everything that amplifies my well-being. And that meant utilizing my creativity in the closet. I’m navigating empty-nesting, menopause, business shift, relationship shifts, sustenance shifts, so much, it can be overwhelming.
I like to feel how I want, and certain clothing and accessories evoke those feelings.
Enjoy this style post.
The bag/belt was gifted to me a few years ago. It’s from Rag & bone.
The sleeveless denim shirt I wore over the vest had long sleeves, but I cut them off at the armpit seam. I threw another denim shirt over and the denim jacket over the shirt. I’m always layering so it’s easy to remove layers for comfort in the event of a hot flash(s).
The Earrings are from an incredibly talented artisan and founder of Shop Hola Luna. Her pieces are unique, sustainable, and gorgeous. I’m honored to have the earrings named after me.
