I Am Ready For Me, And I Want You To Be Ready Ready For You Too

I am ready for me

No resolutions for me. Only realizations and intentions.

I realize I’m ready for myself. I know who I am. This God-sent, cool, incredible, resilient, beautiful, loving, brilliant woman (saying all the things I say to others to myself.) who spent the last thirty-two years doing what she felt she had to (’cause most of the time she didn’t/wouldn’t F around to find out) is ready for herself. Thanks for this term, Trevor Noah.

Honestly, I was too scared to F around. The struggle had me scared to step off the frequently traveled path. And I wasn’t about to after becoming a mother at nineteen. So I stayed put on the path of nothwhatiwantedness.

But ten years ago, I began F-ing around, veering off, and working slowly and consistently on myself, finding out about failures, wins, and whatnot. The lessons have been painful and priceless. But the work continues.

I’m ready for this phase, continuing on my purpose path, post menopause, empty nesting, fifty-one, and whatever else. Pssst. Plus, fifty is not too late.

Being ready for me means being in awareness, being in acceptance, and being ready and willing to take action for myself and my well-being.

I continue to move with fear and imperfection. But I move. Moving through the many experiences has made me healthier and wiser. Not whole. ‘Cause I’m still putting pieces together.

Are You Ready For You?

But what about you? Are you ready for you? Get to know who you are. Go inward. Y’all know I’m the inside-outer beauty advocate. Tend to what’s needed inside and let it blossom. It’ll then diffuse outside. Once you’re ready for yourself, you’ll do all the incredible things you want. And the world has no choice but to be ready for you.

Tending to inner needs will require much of you. Some of which may make you uncomfortable. Like, trying and failing, unlearning and relearning, calling in conviction, courage, and consistency. But if you do the required work, you’ll be ready. And remember, being ready does not equal perfection. Being ready means being you in your imperfection.

I'm a teacher, beauty/wellness founder, and Qigong Instructor. My work exists to support women and people experiencing the menopausal transition on their health and wellness journey. I believe in the sacredness, wholeness, and expansiveness of well-being and the menopausal passage, and I care deeply about teaching and creating experiences and safe spaces that provide support.
